Waxing Is Therapeutic

It's crazy to think that I find sugaring my legs some what therapeutic. When I am stressed and overwhelmed with too many things to do, I find myself finding the time to pamper myself for a couple of hours and sugar my legs. There is something about removing all the hair on my legs that gives me instant gratifcation.

It does take a while to sugar, especially the first couple of times, but having smooth legs for a couple of weeks is so worth it. Because our hair has different growth cycles I have found the best results when I sugar and than wait a week or two shave and than wait another week or so and shave again and than let them all grow out for a couple of days before I wax again. Doing it this way seems to get a lot more hairs on the same growth cycle so when I sugar, my legs are smoother for a lot longer. Results may vary by person, but this seems to work for me. Sugaring definitely decreases the appearance of hair and your legs won't feel as prickly.

If you have never sugared or been sugared, you really should consider it. I am totally addicted. It makes me feel so good about myself. Besides feeling good, my hubby loves it too.

Sugaring is also great for armpits, arms, bikini, and brazillians. If you get in a sticky mess, just jump in the shower. It washes right off. No more yucky messy wax and strips.

Crio Bru a "must try" for all Coffee & Hot Chocolate Lovers

I tried Crio Bru for the first time this week and can I just say I am in love with this product. I love my coffee, but when I heard about the many health benefits of Crio Bru, I had to give it a try. I tried the Cavalla flavor with its rich chocolaty coconut flavor it was hard not too love. I added a little splenda and a dash of french vanilla creamer and it was to die for. The next day I thought I would try a different version and added 1/3 portion of regular coffee grounds and 2/3 portion of Cavalla grounds. It was just as good, but was more of a coffee mocha flavor.

Scroll down to see all health benefits which include natural increase in energy, boost immune system, curb your appetite and lose weight, support your heart, digestive system, brain and bones, feel great and reduce stress. All for 10 calories per serving. This is a must try for all coffee and hot chocolate lovers. Available in several flavors here.

The cocoa bean (also known as the cacao bean) is one of nature’s most amazing superfoods, offering high antioxidant value, mineral benefits and natural energy. Doctors and dieticians have espoused the benefits of dark chocolate for years, teaching us that the cacoa beans used to make this healthy chocolate can become a critical part of a healthy diet.

All this found naturally in a perfect little package – the cocoa bean.

Crio Brü is made from 100%, perfectly roasted cocoa beans. Nothing more, nothing less. No sugar, no chemicals, no dairy. Although Crio Brü roasts the cocoa beans, many of the health benefits found in its natural state are preserved, giving you a superior product with sky-high antioxidants, abundant minerals and healthy energy.

The cocoa beans used in Crio Brü and Crio Beans are superior to most foods because they deliver so many nutrients that we each need to boost health and wellness*. Here is list of some of the benefits of incorporating cocoa beans into your life:

Increase energy naturally
  • Cocoa beans contain a natural stimulant called theobromine that is a relative of caffeine. Unlike caffeine, theobromine gives you a noticeable increase in energy without making you feel nervous or jittery. Cacao naturally contains about 1% theobromine.
  • Theobromine is gentle, mild, has a slow onset, is long lasting and non-addictive whereas caffeine is intense, strong, fast acting, short lived and addictive. In short, it gives you healthy energy as part of a healthy diet.
Boost your immune system
  • Antioxidants fight oxidative damage and free radicals in the body. Cocoa (or cacao) contains the highest concentration of antioxidants of any food in the world, including polyphenols, catechins, and epicatechins. By weight, cocoa has more antioxidants than red wine, blueberries, açai, pomegranates, and goji berries combined. To see the ORAC USDA chart, go to our Crio FAQs page.
  • Zinc plays a critical role in supporting your immune system, liver, pancreas and skin.
Curb your appetite and lose weight
  • Cocoa is one of the great weight loss foods because within its extraordinary nutrition profile it contains the minerals and molecules that help curb appetite, promote weight loss and healthy living.
  • Compared to soda, fruit juice and other drinks, Crio Brü has a nominal number of calories and only 1.5 carbs per serving with many health benefits making it an incredibly healthy drink and a great addition to any health and fitness program.
Support your heart, digestive system, brain and bones
  • Cocoa has more magnesium than any other food, which supports the heart, aids digestion, balances brain chemistry and builds strong bones. Over 80% of Americans are chronically magnesium deficient.
  • Crio Brü is a 100% gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, fat free food.
  • Crio Beans are a 100% gluten free, dairy free, cholesterol free, soy free and sodium free food.
Oxygenate the blood and maintain healthy blood sugar levels
  • The trace mineral manganese found in cacao assists iron to oxygenate the blood and form hemoglobin.
  • Found naturally in cacao, copper helps build healthy blood.
  • Nearly 80% of Americans are deficient of the trace mineral chromium that helps promote a healthy blood sugar level.
  • This is another reason Crio Beans are truly a healthy chocolate.
Feel great, increase focus, reduce stress and sleep better
  • An endorphin or “bliss chemical” called anadamide is produced by our body after exercise that makes us feel great. It has also been found in one plant – cacao.
  • Our body produces the chemical phenylethylamine when we fall in love and increases focus and alertness. This natural chemical is also found abundantly in cacao.
  • Cacao contains serotonin, a primary neurotransmitter in the body that helps build a “stress defense shield”.
  • Tryptophan is a natural anti-depressant amino acid contained in cacao that transforms into stress-protective neurotransmitters that enhance relaxation and promote better sleep.
Adding Crio Brü and Crio Beans to your daily diet will help you take advantage of the many nutrients and benefits native to the cocoa bean, enabling you to lead a healthier and happier life.

Heal those Heel's

I have always had such horrible cracked heel's. At least a couple times a year, I get the worse crack in at least one my heel's that ends up being so bad that it starts to bleed. There is nothing worse than getting a huge gash in your heel that with every step you are reminded of the pain. What are we suppose to do? Not walk and give it time to heal. If you are like me, we don't have the time to let the crack heal on it's on, so we continue to deal with the pain. I have tried super glue, Nu-Skin, and lots and lots of lotion. Although these temporarily take the pain away, the crack just needs time to close on it's own.  Now my goal is to prevent those large gaping cracks from ever appearing again.

I have created a lovely lotion bar that leaves your heel and foot feeling silky and smooth. For best results, apply to your heel and foot right before bed, your feet will be slightly slippery, so slip on some socks and let it work its magic while you are sleeping. Use daily to prevent those nasty cracks.

How to Use Sugaring Paste for Hair Removal

I was introduced to sugaring about 6 months ago.  I loved it. If you have ever used hot wax, you can understand how messy and uncomfortable it can be. Don't get me wrong, anything that is going to pull your hair out is going to be a little painful, but sugaring is a lot less messy and to me seems a little less painful. Once you get the hang of it, you can use it on yourself and can save money by not going to the salon all the time. I have put together a little slideshow/video to demonstrate how easy it is to use. The results last a couple of weeks and over time thin out your hair and make them a lot less noticeable.

Check out the "how to" video

The Oil Cleansing Method

There are so many products on the market today claiming to be the cure all for all of our skin conditions. When I heard of the "Oil Cleansing Method" I thought it was completely crazy. How could oil help my acne prone skin? I have done a lot of ready on how the "Oil Cleansing Method" actual works. It boils down to our skin needs oil to stay moisturized and protected. That is why our skin can become oily. It is reacting to all the chemicals we are applying to our skin on a daily basis trying to fight all the reactions (acne, dry skin, large pores, etc.) Our skin naturally will produce more oil to compensate for all the chemicals. This in turn creates blackheads, white heads, and clogged pores. Believe it or not, oil cleans oil. By using an all natural oil mixture, you are gently, naturally, and effectively removing a built-up of dirt and grime from our skin. It is also very moisturizing and leaves your skin healthy and balanced.

The Oil Cleansing method will take a little bit of time for your skin to adjust, but the results are worth the wait. You should notice a difference within a couple of days, but may take a couple of weeks to fully adjust and get rid of clogged pores.

Directions:
You will only need about a dime size amount of your oil face cleanser. Massage over your face and neck and rinse with a warm wash cloth a couple of times. Allow to air dry. You can apply a toner and serum for added benefits.

You can find my facial products in my etsy shop here. If you have a certain skin type, I can create a custom mixture for you. Please email me your skin conditions.

I would love to hear your results and experiences with the oil cleansing method.

Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is one of my favorite essential oils. Hence the name of my blog/shop. I have listed some information and benefits for keeping lavender in your home.

Lavender is considered a universal oil that has been shown to balance the body and to work wherever there is a need. It is called “the grandmother” of essential oils because it cares for and nurtures us through such a variety of physical and emotional stresses. If you don’t know what essential oil to reach for, try lavender.

Lavender can be used for nearly all skin conditions. It can be applied to cuts, sunburns, burns, rashes, dermatitis, eczema, and insect bites. Consistent use of lavender with burns and injuries minimizes scarring. Lavender, usually as part of a blend, is often used to prevent or remedy conditions of dandruff and hair loss. Lavender is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, cytophylactic, and antispasmodic, making it effective for muscle strains and sprains, cramps, and wound healing.
Lavender clears excess waste products from the lymphatic system and is an aid to digestion. Lavender is sometimes all that is needed to prevent or alleviate nausea. Mildly diuretic, lavender can be useful in alleviating edema and premenstrual water retention. Whether the root of the problem is emotional or physical, lavender is often effective in stabilizing both high or low blood pressure and regulating the pulse. Lavender, or blends containing it, is used to lessen pain and promote restful sleep. Lavender is useful for babies with thrush.

One personal experience I have had is my husband gets cuts and burns on a regular basis and "Lavender" has become his go to to help his wounds heal faster. I thought I would never see the day that he would ask for an essential oil.

Sugaring Hair Removal

Do you ever get tired of shaving everyday? Then once you shave you have prickly hairs the next day. About a year ago, I splurged and had my legs and armpits sugared. It was so amazing. I was hooked. The only problem was I couldn't afford to go to the salon all the time. I set out on a quest to figure out how to sugar myself. After lots and lots of recipes and trial and error, I finally got the perfect recipe for success. Sugaring does take some practice it is not an easy thing to do right off the bat, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad at all. It is so much cleaner than wax. After all, it is made from sugar. Easy to clean up with a little water.

The first time you sugar, if you are removing hair off your whole leg, it could take a couple of hours, but the next time you sugar, it will take a lot less time. You can easily go a couple of weeks between sugaring. Your hair becomes thinner and not as coarse, so a lot less noticeable.

As hard as it will be, it is good to let your hair get a little long. You will have a lot more success and less headache if you let the hair get to be about 1/8 to 1/4 inch long.

The Lavender Spa sugaring paste requires no strips, but uses the flicking method. If you have not done this before, it takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, it’s amazing. This method is less painful, less messy (cleans up with water), and a lot better for your skin. With sugaring your hair grows back softer, slower, and finer. Over time you will have less and less hair.

This paste can be used for all areas of the body, such as the legs, arms, underarms, bikini, etc. If you live in a hotter or more humid area I recommend the firmer paste. Also, for warmer areas of the body (underarms, bikini), I recommend using the firmer paste.  Sugar paste is great for all skin types.
If you have any questions or need detailed instructions, please contact me via email.

Scents: Unscented, Lavender, Lavender Vanilla
