The Oil Cleansing Method

There are so many products on the market today claiming to be the cure all for all of our skin conditions. When I heard of the "Oil Cleansing Method" I thought it was completely crazy. How could oil help my acne prone skin? I have done a lot of ready on how the "Oil Cleansing Method" actual works. It boils down to our skin needs oil to stay moisturized and protected. That is why our skin can become oily. It is reacting to all the chemicals we are applying to our skin on a daily basis trying to fight all the reactions (acne, dry skin, large pores, etc.) Our skin naturally will produce more oil to compensate for all the chemicals. This in turn creates blackheads, white heads, and clogged pores. Believe it or not, oil cleans oil. By using an all natural oil mixture, you are gently, naturally, and effectively removing a built-up of dirt and grime from our skin. It is also very moisturizing and leaves your skin healthy and balanced.

The Oil Cleansing method will take a little bit of time for your skin to adjust, but the results are worth the wait. You should notice a difference within a couple of days, but may take a couple of weeks to fully adjust and get rid of clogged pores.

Directions:
You will only need about a dime size amount of your oil face cleanser. Massage over your face and neck and rinse with a warm wash cloth a couple of times. Allow to air dry. You can apply a toner and serum for added benefits.

You can find my facial products in my etsy shop here. If you have a certain skin type, I can create a custom mixture for you. Please email me your skin conditions.

I would love to hear your results and experiences with the oil cleansing method.

Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is one of my favorite essential oils. Hence the name of my blog/shop. I have listed some information and benefits for keeping lavender in your home.

Lavender is considered a universal oil that has been shown to balance the body and to work wherever there is a need. It is called “the grandmother” of essential oils because it cares for and nurtures us through such a variety of physical and emotional stresses. If you don’t know what essential oil to reach for, try lavender.

Lavender can be used for nearly all skin conditions. It can be applied to cuts, sunburns, burns, rashes, dermatitis, eczema, and insect bites. Consistent use of lavender with burns and injuries minimizes scarring. Lavender, usually as part of a blend, is often used to prevent or remedy conditions of dandruff and hair loss. Lavender is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, cytophylactic, and antispasmodic, making it effective for muscle strains and sprains, cramps, and wound healing.
Lavender clears excess waste products from the lymphatic system and is an aid to digestion. Lavender is sometimes all that is needed to prevent or alleviate nausea. Mildly diuretic, lavender can be useful in alleviating edema and premenstrual water retention. Whether the root of the problem is emotional or physical, lavender is often effective in stabilizing both high or low blood pressure and regulating the pulse. Lavender, or blends containing it, is used to lessen pain and promote restful sleep. Lavender is useful for babies with thrush.

One personal experience I have had is my husband gets cuts and burns on a regular basis and "Lavender" has become his go to to help his wounds heal faster. I thought I would never see the day that he would ask for an essential oil.

Sugaring Hair Removal

Do you ever get tired of shaving everyday? Then once you shave you have prickly hairs the next day. About a year ago, I splurged and had my legs and armpits sugared. It was so amazing. I was hooked. The only problem was I couldn't afford to go to the salon all the time. I set out on a quest to figure out how to sugar myself. After lots and lots of recipes and trial and error, I finally got the perfect recipe for success. Sugaring does take some practice it is not an easy thing to do right off the bat, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad at all. It is so much cleaner than wax. After all, it is made from sugar. Easy to clean up with a little water.

The first time you sugar, if you are removing hair off your whole leg, it could take a couple of hours, but the next time you sugar, it will take a lot less time. You can easily go a couple of weeks between sugaring. Your hair becomes thinner and not as coarse, so a lot less noticeable.

As hard as it will be, it is good to let your hair get a little long. You will have a lot more success and less headache if you let the hair get to be about 1/8 to 1/4 inch long.

The Lavender Spa sugaring paste requires no strips, but uses the flicking method. If you have not done this before, it takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, it’s amazing. This method is less painful, less messy (cleans up with water), and a lot better for your skin. With sugaring your hair grows back softer, slower, and finer. Over time you will have less and less hair.

This paste can be used for all areas of the body, such as the legs, arms, underarms, bikini, etc. If you live in a hotter or more humid area I recommend the firmer paste. Also, for warmer areas of the body (underarms, bikini), I recommend using the firmer paste.  Sugar paste is great for all skin types.
